Haris Kotsoglou ▪ Polyomino

Visual Communication & Design Systems

I am Haris Kotsoglou, a multidisciplinary visual communication designer based in Athens, Greece. I use static or moving images, text and sound to evoke or describe emotions, situations, products, events and ideas.

For almost two decades (2003 – 2022) I was a member of established and awarded design agencies and prominent publishing houses creating visual communication design systems for multinational corporations, cultural organizations, startups, Non-Governmental organizations, artists, teams and individuals. As of late 2023 I have been working as a freelancer. In late 2024 I founded Polyomino*.

My role is to research, evaluate, coordinate and deliver distinctive design systems that combine effectiveness, functionality and impactful aesthetics, handling the design and production process from A to Z in challenging environments.

* A polyomino is a plane geometric figure formed by joining one or more equal squares edge to edge. Polyominoes are used in statistical physics and as puzzles in recreational mathematics. Solving a polyomino puzzle is a lot like designing: the purpose is to creatively achieve a specific goal by following given constraints and using finite resources.
